About Handstand Classes
What to expect:
This class covers handstand fundamentals, conditioning and mobility, with added one-to-one advice and homework on how to best develop your handstand journey. It is not only a great class for beginners, but also perfect for more intermediate practitioners (check your level on the Checklist below).
Classes are kept to limited numbers to ensure some one-on-one attention/ spotting, and to give off more of a ‘workshop’ type vibe where we can share common handstand struggles and make rest times more entertaining!
The class starts with a basic introduction to handstands, a few common myths and questions are debunked and answered. A thorough warm up is then performed before individuals will learn how to fall safely out of a handstand and to how to spot a handstand.
Once these steps have been mastered we move on to how to balance in a handstand and how to kick up to a handstand.
The class will end with shoulder conditioning. Building strength in a handstand is a crucial part of learning one.
Handstands are a challenging skill and in order to help people learn faster homework is always prescribed. The choice to do the homework is completely up to the individual but here are tremendous benefits from doing so. The progress will be faster and people will benefit more from of each class.
There are many benefits of learning a handstand. These include, but are not limited to, gaining upper body strength; especially in the shoulders, developing a good sense of body control and awareness, discovering a new way of exercising, and improved posture.
